Dressing For The Holidays!

I love this month. My birthday is in two day. It is Christmas time. There are decorations everywhere and everyone is in their best spirits. My favorite thing is the clothes for this season. I really enjoy wearing the stylish coats and the boots and dressing up for events. It is happy times! With that in mind, I did a styling section, this afternoon with a client it was all about dressing for the holidays with current trends. I’ll post a bit of what we did. I usually dress up my mannequin and star adding and taking different looks that will work for my client. That way we can brainstorm together and the client learns faster how they need to be dressing. In the coming weeks, I might be showing you a sneak peek of how Rose dresses. Maybe get postings of some street wear that I love!

We started with creating a romantic look. We use a floral dress and a boyfriend cardigan. Remember that this floral trend is going to last after Spring/Summer 2009. This is a great piece to own. This look is great for parties, for the office and even those famous after work drinks.

We did a modern office look after that. We started with a tribal print dress and a basic beige jacket. The dress falls just at the knee making it appropriate for work. This dress is very form fitting and it you have a few more pounds the prints gives you a flat tummy look. When you add the jacket and the belt right under the bust it gives and hour glass figure. If you want to use the dress by itself, I usually dress with ankle boots in black or a red pump. I tend to keep the jewelry and accessories to a minimum with a powerful print like this one.

Jacket: Thrift Store
Belt: Rose’s closet

We work with a little black dress after that, and we saw how much potential it had. The first look was just adding chic accessories. The second look we disguise the dress as a skirt, we added a brown three button cardigan and different accessories to make it stand out.

This last look wasn’t for this styling section, but a different fitting for a plus size lady. I love that the look isn’t your typical plus size look. It is not hiding and covering up the body. It is embracing confidence and sophistication. I love that the pencil skirt embraces the curves and the dressy top gives the outfit a polish look. The beautiful gathering in the middle of the bust hides problem areas. All you need are sexy heels and you’re good to go.
